Revista de Vinhos Classification
Revista de Vinhos has classified Adega de Borba Grande Reserva 2011 (Rótulo de Cortiça) as one of the best wines from the Portuguese region of the Alentejo. According to Revista de Vinhos, this is one of the best vintages of this wine, “an alentejano filled with character, strong flavours, very precise and delicate tannins” and great potential for longevity.
A true ex-libris from Adega de Borba, Rótulo de Cortiça Grande Reserva 2011 was produced from the most typical grapes in the Alentejo – Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet – cultivated in the oldest vineyards of the region and in schist soils.
To stress and accentuate its organoleptic characteristics, the malolactic fermentation was performed in new French oak casks. The wine then aged for 18 months in new tuns for the integration wine-wood. After a soft filtration, it was then bottled and aged for 12 more months in the bottle in a cellar.
Adega de Borba Grande Reserva 2011 has a deep grenade colour and a good aromatic intensity of wild berries, chocolate, tobacco and toast. The flavour is soft and fresh with strong and unctuous tannins of wild berries and spices. The finish is long and silky with great elegance.
