3rd edition of Vinhos Uva de Ouro Competition
Adega de Borba Premium 2012 DOC Alentejo was awarded the Prémio Excelência Uva D’Ouro 2015 (Gold Grape Excellence Award), in the 3rd edition of Concurso de Vinhos Uva de Ouro (Gold Grape Wines Competition) for the second time in a row.
Organised by Continente (supermarket chain), Diário de Notícias (newspaper), Jornal de Notícias (newspaper) and TSF radio, this competition aims to award excellence to national wines, and is recognised by Instituto da Vinha e do Vinho (The Vine and Wine Institute), nominating Aníbal Coutinho as the Technical Director of the competition.
Adega de Borba Premium 2011 had already been given the same award last year, a reason for pride and celebration for Adega de Borba and its winemaker, Óscar Gato, who witnessed this achievement for the second time in a row.
Adega de Borba Premium 2012 is a DOC Alentejo produced from the Alicante Bouschet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Touriga Nacional and Trincadeira grapes, with a well-defined grenade colour. Its aroma presents a good intensity of red ripen berries, jam and pepper. The flavour is silky and elegant with notes of black fruits, coffee and chocolate. The fine
structure is the main characteristic for wines of Adega de Borba Premium range, as well as the strong and persistent finish.
Adega de Borba Premium Red 2012 is produced from selected grapes planted in the oldest vineyards of the region of Borba. This wine aged for six months in new French, American and brown oak casks. It was then bottled and aged for another six months in the bottle.
Apart from the “Excellence Award” in the Uva D’Ouro Competition, Adega de Borba Premium brand has already received 15 awards in national and international competitions over the last 15 years, among which The Great Gold Medal in the Wines of Portugal Competition, 2013.
