Adega de Borba has just announced the launch of Rótulo de Cortiça Grande Reserva 2009, a limited edition long awaited by the wine lovers of this symbolic reference from the Alentejo region.
Manuel Rocha, Adega de Borba’s CEO, reminds us that “the first vintage ever launched for this brand dates back to 1964 as homage to another product of Great excellence from the Alentejo region, the cork”. And also refers: “It is with great satisfaction that we now launch this wine in the market for the second time, a new limited edition of our Rótulo de Cortiça Gold”.
Due to the excellence in the grapes’ quality during the 2009 harvest Adega de Borba announces the new launch of a wine from this brand under the name Grande Reserva, a limited edition of 6,500 numbered bottles.
Rótulo de Cortiça Grande Reserva Gold Red 2009 was produced from grapes cultivated in the oldest vineyards in the Borba region, two of the most symbolic grapes in this region: Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet planted in schist soils.
It has a grenade colour and a good aromatic intensity, strong flavours of red fruits, chocolate, tobacco and toast. The finish is soft, fresh with a great balance of strong tannins of black fruits and spices, long, persistent and elegant. It is recommended to accompany elaborate meat dishes (black pig, Alentejo veal and game) and deserts.
Óscar Gato, the head winemaker from Adega de Borba, stresses “we prefer this wine to be consumed right after bottling, but it can also age for about 15 years.” Rótulo de Cortiça Reserva 2009 is a DOC Alentejo produced from grapes manually harvested, destemmed and fermented with temperature control. After the malolactic fermentation the wine aged for about 18 months in
French oak barrels. After a soft filtration the wine was bottled and aged in the cellar for a year. It has an alcohol content of 14.5 %. Recommended retail price is 15 €.
