2009 vintage results in an intense wine
First edition of Adega de Borba Garrafeira 2009
Adega de Borba presents one of its most exciting novelties this year: a limited edition of Garrafeira Adega de Borba DOC which results from the excellence of the 2009 vintage. After the recent launch of the Premium range, we are now launching the brand new Garrafeira, a wine with an intense aroma, in a bottle with an elegant label with golden and white colours.
Óscar Gato, Adega de Borba’s winemaker, states “the quality of the 2009 vintage has allowed us to produce this new wine, a key product in Adega de Borba’s internationalisation strategy, showing the extraordinary capacities of the region for the production of great quality wines.”
Adega de Borba Garrafeira 2009 is produced from the Trincadeira, Aragonez and Alicante Bouschet grapes cultivated in some of the oldest vineyards in the region, planted in unfertile soils. The productivity of the grapes is strictly controlled and the maturation of the grapes and the specific plots are carefully monitored by the winemakers.
This wine has a deep grenade colour and a good aromatic intensity with notes of black ripen fruits, cocoa and roasted nuts. The flavour is velvety with silky tannins of raisins and wild berries. It is a full-bodied with a fresh and long finish.
Adega de Borba Garrafeira 2009 should be consumed at a temperature of 16-17ºC and is ideal to accompany roasted lamb, lamb stew and game.
This wine undergoes a 12-month ageing in French and American oak casks. It was bottled after a slight filtration and the winemaking process ended with a final 30-month ageing in the bottle. It can be consumed now or stored for about 10 years.
