To celebrate the summer with a refined wine, Adega de Borba has just launched a new vintage of Montes Claros Sparkling wine. The Arinto and Alvarinho grapes from 2013 allowed us to produce a sparkling brut with an elegant aroma of tropical fruits and slight notes of almonds, the perfect aperitif for the Portuguese hot summer.

The harvest was performed manually during the morning to achieve the best possible temperature of the grape at its arrival in the winery. Óscar Gato, head of oenology at Adega de borba, states that the grapes were transported in small batches. After the crushing and total destemming, we performed the pressing, decantation through the cold system for 24 hours and alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature. The wine was fermented a second time in the bottle through the classical method with a prolonged ageing for a year under the yeasts. The dégorgement was performed in May 2015.

Montes Claros Sparkling is a white brut with fine bubbles, clear aspect and citrus colour with a yellowish nuance which are a good indication of this sparkling’s young and fresh flavours with strong notes of citrus fruits.

This sparkling has the perfect balance of aromas and flavours due the great harmony between alcohol content and acidity. It should be consumed immediately after bottling or aged for a period of two years. It should be served at 6o − 8oC.

Montes Claros Sparkling White Brut from Adega de Borba has a recommended retail price of 8.49 €.
