This recognition once again highlights the wine tourism offering of the oldest active wine cooperative in the Alentejo region, in an edition where the Five Star Regions Award distinguished 100 regional icons and 133 brands from across the country, based on the evaluation of more than 407,000 consumers.
Adega de Borba has once again been awarded the Five Star Regions Award 2026 in the Wine Tourism category, reinforcing its position as one of the leading national references in this segment. This is the second consecutive year that the winery has won this distinction, awarded directly by consumers.
The Five Star Regions Award is an evaluation system that measures the level of satisfaction of Portuguese consumers with regional brands, products, and services. In this year’s edition, approximately 407,000 consumers evaluated more than a thousand brands across the country, using a rigorous methodology that combines different analysis techniques and information gathering.
In this 9th edition, a total of 100 regional icons and 133 brands from all districts of mainland Portugal and the Autonomous Regions were distinguished, out of a universe of 233 references representing the best of each region. In addition to receiving the Five Star Regions Seal, the 233 winners will also be featured in the Portugal Guia-te 2026 tourist guide, a national reference guide showcasing the best the country has to offer this year.
This recognition once again highlights the wine tourism offerings of Adega de Borba, which presents itself as a natural extension of its winemaking activity, inviting visitors to an immersive experience in the culture, history, and tradition of the region.
“Receiving this distinction for the second consecutive year is a source of great pride and, above all, a direct validation from consumers of the quality of the experience we strive to provide. Wine tourism is a strategic pillar for Adega de Borba, serving as a link between our legacy and those who visit us,” says Nuno Brito, general manager of Adega de Borba.
With a diverse offering, Adega de Borba provides guided tours, wine tastings, food and wine experiences, and training initiatives related to the world of wine. In recent years, the winery has invested in improving its infrastructure, currently boasting a spacious tasting room, an auditorium with a capacity for 60 people, and a room for 150 people, prepared to host corporate events, seminars, training sessions, and tasting courses.
The visitor experience is complemented by the winery shop and the Adega de Borba Restaurant, where it is possible to discover and purchase a wide range of wines and taste some of the most renowned traditional dishes of the Alentejo region, always paired with the brand’s wines.
Founded in 1955, Adega de Borba is the oldest active wine cooperative in the Alentejo and an unmissable reference in the sector. Currently, it brings together 230 associated winegrowers, responsible for cultivating 2,200 hectares of vineyards, in a seven-decade journey marked by the appreciation of the territory, tradition and innovation.
